Hi! I’m James! I’m a Front End Web Developer with most of my experience in WordPress development and design as well as the Adobe Creative Cloud lines of products. I currently live in “sunny” Waterloo, Illinois which is near the St. Louis, Missouri area.
During the daylight hours (and some of the nighttime ones, too), I’m working for Unidev as one of their noble code monkies, aka Front End Developers. I develop websites for clients, maintain client websites in HTML5, WordPress, and Auctori (an in-house developed .Net system), and create the occasional newsletter templates for many of the firm’s clients.
In 2012 I worked for Think Tank PR, Marketing, and Design as their Director of Interactive, where I wore many different (figurative) hats. At Think Tank, I helped create schematics and developed websites as well as coded all Mail Chimp newsletters. I also had a helping hand in filming and editing all of the viral internet videos for the company. To top it all off, I was also the general IT go-to man of the firm.
I interned for Point A Media in Nacogdoches, Texas during the summer of 2012 where I designed promotional material for the Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce, The Nacogdoches Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, and the Healthy Nacogdoches coalition as well as several other local businesses.
Throughout my career, I’ve designed posters, logos, packaging, tee-shirts, and sales collateral as well as photo retouching and web design. Samples of these can be seen in my portfolio.
With my certification in Web Design with an emphasis in Graphic Design from Sessions College for Professional Design, I have experience using Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Fireworks, Flash, InDesign, and Illustrator in both professional and academic settings.
Web development wasn’t always my focus, though. Originally, I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science from McKendree University. I like to think it gives me an edge on the more art-focused web designers and semantics-concerned web coders in the industry. I’m that rare breed of person who speaks an equal measure of art-lingo and code-geek-speak.
In my free time, I love swing dancing, writing and playing music, and discussing the merits of good storytelling and movie making with friends. Got a love for the Cohen Brothers? We’ll probably get along just fine.
